Gyroid phase in nuclear pasta.
Nuclear matter is considered to be inhomogeneous at subnuclear densities that are realized in supernova cores and neutron star crusts, and the structures of nuclear matter change from spheres to cylinders, slabs, cylindrical holes, and spherical holes as the density increases. In this Letter, we discuss other possible structures, that is, gyroid and double-diamond morphologies, which are period...
متن کاملVoid Analysis of Hadronic Density Fluctuations at Phase Transition
The event-to-event fluctuations of hadron multiplicities are studied for a quark system undergoing second-order phase transition to hadrons. Emphasis is placed on the search for an observable signature that is realistic for heavy-ion collisions. It is suggested that in the 2-dimensional y-φ space the produced particles selected in a very narrow pT window may exhibit clustering patterns even whe...
متن کاملNuclear pasta structure in hot neutron stars
Structure of cold and hot dense matter at subnuclear densities is investigated by quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) simulations. Obtained phase diagrams show that the density of the phase boundaries between the different nuclear structures decreases with increasing temperature due to the thermal expansion of nuclear matter region. At subnuclear densities, nuclear matter exhibits the coexistence ...
متن کاملHadronic interactions and nuclear physics
I give an overview of efforts in the last year to calculate interactions among hadrons using lattice QCD. Results discussed include the extraction of low-energy phase shifts and three-body interactions , and the study of pion and kaon condensation. A critical appraisal is offered of recent attempts to calculate nucleon-nucleon and nucleon-hyperon potentials on the lattice.
متن کاملHadronic property at finite density
Lattice QCD simulations at finite chemical potential μ are extremely difficult due to the sign problem. Recently it has been realized that at small chemical potential one can study density effects on physical quantities by various approaches.1) One of the approaches is the derivative method which has been used for the study of response of meson masses with respect to μ by QCD-TARO collaboration...
